Waking Up

"The hardest thing in life, is letting go of what you thought was real."

Woosaa, Woosaa

Back in October, I took the Major Field Assessment Test (MFAT) in Mathematics. We expected the scores to return before Thanksgiving. It never came. Then it was suppose to arrive before finals. It never came. Yesterday I received an email from my advisor with the subject "MFAT." I've been thinking about this moment for months. I didn't study for the exam and it was far from easy. I went into it thinking that if I did fail, I would have another shot in Spring 07 and JIC, after I took the fall exam I immediately signed up for the spring exam. After a few moments of heavy breathing, I pizza-pizza'd the subject ...

"I'm pleased to inform you that you have successfully completed the MFAT requirement for your major."

Live N Direct

Boulder Xmas 2006 was a complete success! Although all went well, I got screwed in the evil gift game with Friends Season 2 ... spam sounded sooo much better! Many pictures were taken but I don't expect them anytime soon. I'll get them up as soon as they're posted. In the meantime, I'll share the pictures of Brown and I during our recording session of "In The Cut," our latest mix of electronica presented as our 2006 creative gift ... a solid live mix! On the subject, all creative gifts this year were spectacular! Medema came through with the custom planters, RE-2 impressed us with the custom knit hat and scarf, Uni1 brought it home with custom fridge poetry magnets and Choke renewed the "Fourty Deuce" art work. It was a wonderful show of talent this year ... an applause to those that participated!

Before a show of images, last evening I spent many hours putting together one liners from the fridge poetry magnets. Thought I'd share them with you ...
  1. Your daily wish said hate me best
  2. I told many people today to make love inside sunshine mountain
  3. Never take morning's truth and pretend sum night
  4. My secret carefully ran under you
There are many more that cover the fridge but these are some favorites. Apparently this last "batch" brings the poetry out in me.

Inspiration Over Rice

On Tuesday, I was frustrated with creative gift. It seemed that everyone finished or had their creative gift ironed out and I was the only one that didn't have an idea on what to create. After racking my brain all morning, I asked Choke to join me for lunch at Rumbi, hoping that Choke could suggest an idea or that I could pick his brain. I kept saying, "I have no clue what to make. I might just not participate. What the &%$# can I make!" I repeated it over and over again causing a headache. Choke probably got sick of me saying it over and over ... but I was running on empty. I was totally out of ideas ... out! Then Choke came up with the idea for an origami gift. It wasn't a bad idea but I had zero interest in folding paper into a crane, if you know what I mean. While I tried to enjoy my teriyaki rice bowl, I thought of ways that I can be creative/artistic. Then it hit me, like time released morphine. KA-POW ... rice bowl in your face! The light bulb went off ... bright and white! I was going to need Brown's assistance and luckily, Brown didn't execute his first idea. The pieces fell together perfectly and the plan was executed this evening. Booyakasha ... done and done!!!

And I thought my creative gift last year was pretty good. Well, this year's is GREAT! Actually, it's pretty AMAZING! Unfortunately, I can't share it on this posting but will shortly. Much more to come ... and then some ...

Donkey Donk

For the first time this year I attempted my holiday shopping. It was unsuccessful and ended up as hours spent looking at stuff that I want and like. I'm absolutely out of gift ideas. Electronics, clothes, shoes, jewelry, chocolate? Who doesn't like chocolate? I think I'm trying to hard to be original. Maybe gift certificates isn't such a bad idea. 2006, the year of the gift certificates ... lame! Ahhhh ... frustrating! At this point, I'm all for a group trip to Vegas this year. I should have joined in on Choke and Brown's Vegas chants way back when. They had the right idea. I wouldn't mind being somewhere warmer though ... a cruise would be nice!

Snapshot of Xmas 05

Although most of us prefer a trip to Vegas, I know it's just not going to happen. I'll be taking last minute trips to the mall and making spontaneous gift purchases. Will he/she use this? Will he/she like it? Those are nice shoes ... I need new shoes! BTW, not a hint ... I don't need shoes! Till then, I'll sing "Dominic the Donkey" with hope for some inspiration on holiday gift ideas ... hee-haw, hee-haw ... It's Dominic the Donkey!

Dominic The Donkey
Hey! Chingedy ching,

(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,

(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.

Santa's got a little friend,
His name is Dominick.
The cutest little donkey,
You never see him kick.
When Santa visits his paisons,
With Dominick he'll be.
Because the reindeer cannot,
Climb the hills of Italy.

Hey! Chingedy ching,

(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)

The Italian Christmas donkey.

Jingle bells around his feet,
And presents on the sled.
Hey! Look at the mayor's derby,
On top of Dominick's head.
A pair of shoes for Louie,
And a dress for Josephine.
The labels on the inside says,

They're made in Brooklyn.

Hey! Chingedy ching,

(hee-haw, hee-haw)

It's Dominick the donkey.

Chingedy ching,

(hee-haw, hee-haw)

The Italian Christmas donkey.

Children sing, and clap their hands,
And Dominick starts to dance.
They talk Italian to him,

And he even understands.

Cumpare sing,

Cumpare su,

And dance 'sta tarantel.

When jusamagora comes to town,
And brings du ciuccianello.

Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)

It's Dominick the donkey.

Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
