Don't Work Here

At the laundry mat this morning, a older lady with a british accent asked me, "Do you stay open later on Sundays?" I replied, "I don't work here!"

Immediately, I thought to myself .... Does it look like I work here? Was there something that I was wearing that might have indicated that I worked at a laundry mat? Did she somehow know that I had extensive experience working at King Size Laundry in Kew Gardens?? How did she know? Was it because I'm asian? That's messed up!

I wasn't offended by the question but I know some people are. The assumption is what get's me. Instead of asking the question that implies that they work at the establishment, why not start with, "Do you work here?"

Thinking back on her question, I should of replied by coughing on her ... followed by phelgm spitting in her laundry! "I want to speak with the manager!" " I am the manager ... B!" I'm not a mean person ... I just have a cold!!!! Errrggg!!
